Who's adearest?

Who's adearest? What is adearest?....but most of all How is adearest?

Hi! the name’s Joshua Vang or Josh but I also go by my artist name, adearest. My nationality is Hmong /hmôNG/ and I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm a self-taught illustrator, self-taught photographer, just a lot of self-taught hobbies. For most of my artistic life I haven't had the real opportunity to join any art class or art clubs. All I really did was watch a lot of anime, read a lot of manga, and doodled a lot. I remember how much I enjoyed seeing characters come to life and how sometimes they're more relatable then actual people. I would usually just doodle a lot, day dream during school hours; got in a lot of trouble for not paying attention too; and really just observe people and nature as the world flows by.

As an artist I'm constantly learning and always trying to improve my craft whether its illustration, photography, or writing. I believe as an artist we're constantly trying to be better then who we are yesterday that's why we're never truly satisfied with our finished work or we feel like we didn't put enough effort in it...I mean I can't be the only person who feels this way right?

You'll be surprised I actually stopped drawing back in my Junior year in high-school because well drawing or an artistic career is really looked down upon in my family. So I just kind of left it as it is even though in school I received a lot of complements from friends, classmates and teachers about my drawing and my photography.

I personally don't know but for me I find it difficult to accept complements but I truly appreciate everyone who has complemented my work; it could be some trauma I had in the past or something involving my psyche but we can talk about it in another blog once I discover more about myself.

More About Me: - One of my New Years resolutions for 2022 is to finish a digital drawing every month. It's a way for me to practice digital art and slowly catch up to other artist. That's why I'm here!

- You may be wondering, ”How did I get the artist name adearest?" It’s pretty simple. I wrote a lot of poetry in high school and my style of poetry is very sentimental, a lot of love poems and personal poems. A good friend of mines suggested that they’re almost like letters to someone important…someone very dear to us as readers, and so adearest kind of just stuck with me since.
