There's this discussion that been flying around the internet. AI art is going to kill off Artist, that there will be no need for artist anymore in the near future.
I know a lot of artist colleagues that are worried about this near future. Especially someone like me who literally decided to pick up art again. Should we be worried about AI and it's capabilities in the creative field.

My argument, NO!....but also YES
Hear me out, I do not believe AI art will replace real artist. I believe AI art will only benefit us artist as an asset; well the artist that are more open and progressive about the idea of AI art.
I can see these art applications cutting production time in half and creating a basic idea/concept to work off from or inspire something new.
From my little experimenting with the AI "NightCafe" it's been loads of fun and the creations I've made are amazing for sure but non has really matched what I had in mind or sometimes it's way off from the prompt I created for it to generate and its not even recognizable.
Examples of attempts...that aren't as nice.
These art piece the AI generated are amazing in its own right but definitely not industry standards. There's a lot of body parts that are disproportionate and abstracted that it just doesn't look right. To me these art piece seems to be missing something more, a soul, the intentions of why the art piece was made.
These prompts as you can see suffer to understand the complexities of the human body, the right portions of leg length or how our hands work.
Note: notice how any AI app the AI tends to create prompts trying to avoid the Hands and Feet. (those cheeky algorithm cutting corners)
A great example I tell my colleagues why our current AI's will not replace any good artist is how our bodies work. When we walk our whole body moves and contracts different parts of our muscles and any good artist can see that and understand the different parts of our body that's in use when standing, sitting, or running. We understand how to grip an ice cream cone without crushing it unintentionally, we notice that we breaths a lot heavier when running. It's things like these that separate Human Artist and AI, these small details are things AI can't reproduce.
You can say, "In order to understand one you have to be one"

As you have read my argument as to why AI wont replace Human artist but it does not mean we can just sit back and chill. One of the biggest issues with AI art is copy rights and Corporate mass productions.
If you don't know how these AI art apps work they have a large selection of art styles ranging from Modern, Contemporary, Surrealism, Anime, to much much more (because hey it's the Internet). Some apps has the option to chose the specific (IRL) artist to "reference".
So now we're crossing a grey line because there's an unspoken rule that all fellow artist I know follow; you do not clam copy art as your own and you always credit the artist you copied or took inspirations from. Copying in the art world is fine especially if you're trying to learn a specific art style or trying to learn how to draw in general but these apps don't do that. I can only assume there's just too much artist to credit or there's a loop hole in this new AI art world they're using. Then there's the problem where users of these apps can easily claim these art are their own.
With these apps being streamlined to the masses how can one single artist claim rights to 100+ art pieces that have the likeness of their style but not created by them? I don't know, to be honest with AI art still in its infancy we can only hope for Copy Right rules be updated to help artist and others to appreciate art.
One of the Biggest Red Flags I see with AI art is Corporate mass productions. (I'm looking at you Disney)
Hear me out before you hang me for mentioning Disney. If you have not notice a lot of Disney animation lately have felt..."samey". Their characters don't have much characteristics to make them different/stand out, honestly if the voice actors didn't play their characters well I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Bruno, Luca, Alfredo Linguini, Mo from Lightyear and don't get me started with the female characters lately too.
It's not just Disney that has this problems but also the anime industry. The mass produced Anime Series that are forgettable have characters that looks like they just copy and passed from one show to the next. But Yes sell up over-priced anime merch.
How doe all this connect? What does "Same Face Syndrome" has to do with AI art....well everything. Big companies will always try to find way to cut corners to save money so why hire an experienced artist that is expensive and time consuming when you can get art in an instant with AI apps. Because yeah Corporate totally cares about us and their employees well beings. Really big red flags because once art becomes mass produced it becomes soulless.

So Yes! AI art I believe can be beneficial in away but its like a double edge knife it can hurt us if we're not careful especially if not addressed early. Even if AI art takes over the world we artist will probably just fall into the niche. So if you can support your local artist, your favorite artist because you never know when we'll get replace by the matrix.
Oh!!! and don't get started with AI photography systems and AI auto camera system.
